Angela Torres Camarena

Award-winning film director and writer devoted to create meaningful films from a sensitive and poetic perspective. Her films have been selected at international film festivals around the globe including the Palm Springs Film Festival, SXSW and Cannes. In 2009 she won the Changemaker award granted by HBO with her film "Exiled in America". Her film "Frente Noreste" starred by Evangelina Sosa & Luis Felipe Tovar - Mexican Academy Award  winners; won the C.W. Hacket award as an outstanding work for Latin America and was acquired by PBS for broadcasting in the United States. Her latest film, "The Trigger" won a grant by the highly competitive Texas Filmmakers Production Fund; and is in development as a feature film. 

Angela was recipient of the Warren Skaaren Endowed Presidential Fellowship for film excellence and two times recipient of the E.D. Farmer Fellowship both granted by the University of Texas at Austin. She was also a fellow of the prestigious FONCA-CONACYT and FONECA, both awarded by the National Commission of the Arts in Mexico. 

Angela holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication by the Monterrey Institute of Technology and an MFA in Film Production by the University of Texas at Austin.
